Job Description

Front Office Trade Support Engineer

We're seeking a Front Office Trade Support Engineer who will focus on supporting equities trading systems, traders, and related business users. The person will act as the bridge between the trading desk and technology teams, troubleshooting real-time trading issues, supporting order flow and trade execution processes, and ensuring trading platforms remain stable and operational. This role is hybrid, requiring 3 days onsite in Midtown Manhattan each week.

  • Provide direct front-office technology support to equities traders, middle office users, and compliance teams on the trading floor.
  • Monitor trading platforms and related systems to ensure stability, performance, and availability throughout the trading day.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve real-time trading issues affecting order flow, execution, trading applications, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Investigate and address compliance-related inquiries and trading issues through detailed analysis and root cause investigation.
  • Serve as an escalation point for problems involving orders, executions, booking, and allocation workflows.
  • Troubleshoot issues involving order routing, order management systems (OMS), and trade lifecycle events.
  • Analyze application logs, FIX logs, and system data to identify the source of operational or trading-related issues.
  • Communicate incidents, business impacts, root causes, and resolution updates to stakeholders and senior management.
  • Gather and document business requirements from traders and business users.
  • Track, prioritize, and manage business requests while providing transparency to stakeholders regarding status and progress.
  • Translate business requirements into functional specifications for internal development teams and third-party vendors.
  • Partner with technology, support, QA, middle office, and control functions to deliver system enhancements and improvements.
  • Share end-to-end business processes and workflow knowledge with support and QA teams to improve testing quality and operational readiness.
  • Support front-office trading operations by ensuring efficient processing of orders entering and exiting trading systems.
  • Assist with investigation and resolution of booking, allocation, and post-trade support issues while coordinating with middle- and back-office teams as needed.
  • Participate in regulatory and compliance-related investigations, reporting inquiries, and operational support activities.
  • Maintain and enhance support documentation, runbooks, knowledge base articles, troubleshooting guides, and operational procedures.
  • Support production trading environments and provide L1/L2 application support for business-critical equities trading platforms.
  • Build strong working relationships with traders, compliance personnel, middle-office teams, and other business stakeholders to support day-to-day trading operations.
