Fuel Ceramic Engineer

Role & Responsibilities

We are seeking a Fuel Ceramic Engineer for an advanced nuclear fuel developer which would be a great opportunity for someone with experience in ceramic processing and powder fabrication looking to further their career in nuclear fuel manufacturing.

•      Develop and optimize ceramic feedstocks, powders, binders, forming, densification, and thermal processing

•      Set process parameters and controls to hit target properties and dimensions while minimizing defects

•      Execute fabrication campaigns, operate equipment, and troubleshoot processes

•      Investigate defects and improve process yield and consistency

•      Develop scale-up from lab fabrication to pilot and production-representative manufacturing

Essential Qualifications

•      Experience in advanced ceramics, ceramic composites, nuclear fuel, powder processing, or high-temperature materials

•      Hands-on ceramic preparation, thermal-processing equipment operation, and process troubleshooting

•      Bachelor's in Ceramic, Materials, Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering or related field

Bonus Qualifications

•      Advanced technical degree

•      FCM, TRISO fuel, SiC matrix, or ceramic-matrix composite experience

•      Binder jetting, pressing, or slurry processing; ASME NQA-1 or manufacturing scale-up
