Fuel Coating Engineer

Role & Responsibilities

We are seeking a Fuel Coating Engineer for an advanced nuclear fuel developer which would be a great opportunity for someone with experience in CVD and coating process development looking to further their career in nuclear fuel manufacturing.

• Develop and optimize TRISO particle coating (pyrocarbon, SiC) and SiC CVD processes for fuel pellets
• Define requirements for coating furnaces, fluidized-bed coaters, and CVD reactors
• Execute coating campaigns, troubleshoot equipment, and evaluate coating defects
• Establish process controls and scale-up strategies for repeatable results
• Maintain process data and material traceability supporting fuel qualification

Essential Qualifications

• Experience developing or operating CVD, CVI, pyrocarbon, SiC, or other high-temperature vapor-deposition processes
• Hands-on coating or deposition equipment operation, commissioning, and troubleshooting in a lab or pilot facility
• Bachelors in Materials, Chemical, Ceramic, Mechanical, or Nuclear Engineering or related field

Bonus Qualifications

• Advanced technical degree
• TRISO fluidized-bed CVD, FCM, HTGR fuel, or nuclear-grade SiC experience
• ASME NQA-1 or scale-up from R&D to pilot or production manufacturing
