Full Charge Bookkeeper (Tax-Ready Reviewer)


Role Overview:
We are seeking a mid-level Full Charge Bookkeeper to join our professional tax and accounting firm. This individual will act as the bridge between our Junior Bookkeeper and the Tax Prep team. The primary goal of this role is to ensure that client financial records are accurate, fully reconciled, and "tax-ready" on a cash basis with minimal technical adjustments required by the CPA.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Quality Control & Review: Oversee and review the work of a Junior Bookkeeper, including high-volume data entry and QuickBooks reconciliations.
  • General Ledger (GL) Integrity: Perform a detailed review of the GL and Financial Statements to identify misclassifications, duplicate entries, or missing data.
  • Tax-Basis Preparation: Finalize the financial statements to a high standard of accuracy for tax return preparation.
  • Complex Payroll Management: Execute and oversee payroll processing for clients with more complicated requirements, including specialized deductions (retirement, garnishment, insurance, etc.), benefit tracking.
  • Workflow Coordination: Ensure all bookkeeping tasks are completed within firm deadlines using internal project management tools.
Candidate Qualifications:
  • Experience: 5-7 years of professional bookkeeping experience. Prior experience working within a CPA or professional tax firm is highly preferred.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in QuickBooks (Desktop and Online). Must be an expert in cash-basis accounting.
  • Payroll Proficiency: Demonstrated experience handling "non-standard" payroll items and comfortable with various third-party payroll platforms.
  • Attention to Detail: An analytical "reviewer" mindset, someone who enjoys catching errors and streamlining workflows.
  • Communication: Ability to provide clear, constructive feedback to junior staff and concise updates to the CPA.
Ideal Fit:
  • Someone who understands the "Tax Season" flow.
  • A candidate who is comfortable with high-volume, cash-basis clients.
  • Someone who is self-sufficient in technical bookkeeping but doesn't necessarily need to be an expert in complex GAAP accruals or financial auditing.
