Do you want to build the product people use to hand real work to AI agents, as one of the first engineers at a brand-new lab?
A newly founded AI lab in San Francisco is building agents that don't stop after a single task. They keep working toward a goal for weeks, months and eventually indefinitely. The founders come from frontier AI labs, robotics and autonomous-driving AI, big-tech research and a top quant firm. Their view: the longer an agent runs, the less raw capability is the problem and the more it comes down to understanding what the person actually wants. So their agents turn short instructions and messy real-world signals into a lasting picture of the goal, then plan, act, check the results, recover from mistakes and keep getting better. The first use case: products that improve themselves.
They're hiring 4 full stack AI engineers at founding level.
What will you do?
Own complete product areas, from first idea to production
Build the interface where users hand over complex outcomes to agents and stay in control
Work across the whole stack: front end, agent workflows, model orchestration and infrastructure
Turn new model capabilities into features that work for real users, not just in a demo
Talk to users, learn how they work and ship improvements fast
Help shape the product, the architecture and the culture as one of the first engineers
What do you bring?
Around 3–6 years as a software engineer; exceptional outliers and senior leads are welcome too
Full stack range combined with strong product judgment and taste
Products you built and shipped to real users, ideally from zero
A feel for turning what LLMs and agents can do into something simple and useful
Clear proof of ownership: you founded a company, owned a major product, or shipped important work at a frontier tech company
A founder mindset: high agency, fast, at home where nothing is defined yet
Nice to have
Experience at a leading AI coding or AI agent company
Founder or early-team experience; an exit is a strong signal
A spike: top of your field in olympiads (IOI/IMO), competitive programming, chess, sports or quant trading
What do we offer?
$250k–$500k base salary + 1–5% equity
Founding-level ownership next to an exceptionally strong founding team
Hard, open problems in long-running autonomous agents
Visa sponsorship; from outside the US the O-1 is the realistic route
