Scion Technology has been engaged to conduct a search for an experienced Lead Java Engineer for our client, a Google Premier Partner! This is a full-time, direct hire position offering a remote schedule (EST preferred).

POSITION OVERVIEW

You'll be a hands-on Full Stack Engineer with the added responsibility of acting as the technical leader and facilitator for your pod. This is a player-coach role, meaning you'll actively build and ship while also ensuring your team has clarity, support, and the technical direction needed to deliver high-quality features. As the Pod Lead, you'll collaborate closely with pod leadership and help your group execute in an Agile environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Hands-on player-coach: Build, test, and deploy production code using Java and React.

• Lead technical execution: Drive system/design decisions for scalable, secure solutions on GCP.

• Quality & mentorship: Own/push strong engineering practices (code reviews, testing standards) and mentor/unblock pod members.

• Delivery & Agile execution: Support sprint commitments, communicate risks/status, and participate in daily/retros/iteration improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred
• 5+ years of Java & React
• 1+ years in a Team Lead or a comparable leadership role with a proactive willingness to assume leadership responsibilities
• Experience with Agile development methodologies & cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Experience with software design and development within a test-driven environment
• Experience with both relational and NoSQL databases
• MUST be able to work in the US both now and in the future without requiring employer sponsorship

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
