Audiologist
JOB SUMMARY:
The Audiologist provides care to outpatients referred to the Otolaryngology clinic following established standards and practices.
PRE-REQUISITES:
Education: Licensed Audiologist
Experience: Prior experience preferred.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports To: Director of Operations
SCOPE:
Machinery or Equipment Used: Computer/Electronic Health Record, patient monitoring devices, telephone, copier, diagnostic and therapeutic equipment necessary to perform duties within the limits of their training, experience and granted privileges including resuscitation equipment.
Physical Demands: Extensive sitting, walking, typing, listening, bending, finger dexterity, standing, reaching, color vision, talking, and eye/hand coordination.
Working Conditions: Medical clinic environment
Required Protective Equipment: Ergonomically correct computer equipment, as well as PPE required on a case by case basis.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Provides treatment, consultation and follow up for patients seen at Northwestern Otolaryngology
2. Perform emittance and emissions testing for patients.
3. Conduct auditory evoked potential assessments for patients.
4. Assess the hearing sensitivity and quality for patients and provide patients and parents with information regarding the results.
5. Dispense assistive listening devices, such as hearing aids.
6. Fit assistive listening devices based on the patient’s physiology and other needs.
7. Consult with physicians and outside professionals about each patient’s future needs and current progress.
8. Update medical records based on ongoing evaluations of each patient.
9. Implements medical care within their limits of privileges.
10. Effectively develops and communicates with the patient and the family/support system about the treatment plan, resources and required follow-up care.
11. Utilizes the hospitals electronic health record by appropriately documenting all patient interactions.
12. Actively participates in hospital committees and maintains both a collegial and independent relationship with members of medical staff and Hospital employees.
13. Demonstrates support of and assists with the execution of cost saving and process improvement initiatives. Partners with other departments of the hospital to ensure efficient flow of patients.
