Position Summary
The Cook is responsible for maintaining the food preparation and serving areas in a sanitary condition. This individual
will also be heavily involved in preparing and serving quality food in a timely manner while maintaining the elegance,
grace, and dignity of each resident.
Duties and Responsibilities
Preparing and serving three quality, healthy meals/snacks per day
Check the quality and freshness of ingredients
Present, garnish and arrange final dishes
Set up workstations with required ingredients and equipment
Performs food preparation and food service duties as required according to facility guidelines and the current
standards of practice
Ensure ingredients and final products are fresh
Follow recipes, including measuring, weighing and mixing ingredients
Bake, grill, steam and boil meats, vegetables, fish, poultry and other foods
Operate kitchen equipment such as broilers, ovens, grills
Maintain food safety and sanitation standards
Maintains kitchen and dining area in a safe and sanitary condition for self, residents and others
Handle and store ingredients and food
Accommodate guests’ special requests
Responds to resident dietary requests in a positive and cooperative manner
Assists residents by providing a restaurant-style atmosphere
Execute opening and closing procedures
Monitor station inventory levels
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Prior experience in food service, preferably in senior living or healthcare, is required.
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Must have appropriate food handler’s permit
Experience in management and effective leadership
Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
Must enjoy working with seniors
Must pass pre-employment drug screening, criminal background investigation, and reference inquiries
