RED LAKE NATION COLLEGE Position Description POSITION TITLE: Teaching Facilitator DEP ARTMENT : Academics (CNSS Grant) REPOR TS TO: Associate Dean of Academic Affairs CLASSIFICA TION: Non-exempt REVISED: July 2026 DEADLINE: Open until filled POSITION DESCRIPTION Red Lake Nation College is seeking part-time Teaching Facilitators for the Fall 2026 semester . This position will support specifically assigned faculty with the implementation and development of their instructional practices and strategies while providing direct and indirect support to students and instructors with the organization, set up, and delivery of course-specific instructional content through RLNC' s Learning Management System (LMS), Canvas. Rationale: This position is intended to foster mutual support and development in our academic community . RLNC operates from the position that faculty are a wealth of knowledge, experience, and expertise, with much to offer beyond their prodigious content understanding. RLNC also operates from the position that learners are doers, with their own incredible skill sets and experiences to offer. This position is an incredible opportunity to learn and practice classroom management, content organization, learning theory , and so many other transferable skills while developing and refining new skill sets that are in high demand in the modern job marketplace, such as Instructional Design and Change Management. PRIMAR Y FUNCTIONS Enhance RLNC' s digital learning environment through positively impacting: student access to online course delivery; student support mechanisms (e.g., tutoring, Office Hours, guided microlearning); student comfortability and sense of belonging in the learning environment. Desir ed Mindset: The ideal candidate for this position is an individual who proactively asks questions and seeks clarifications, is innately curious, is self-motivated, and who is passionate about collaborating with others to deliver exceptional teaching and learning. Desir ed Technical Skills: The ideal candidate for this position has experience successfully managing their usage of an LMS either in an instructional role or in a learning role. Canvas LMS experience specifically is preferred, but not required. Additionally , the ideal candidate for this position demonstrates at least intermediate proficiencies in RLNC' s various technologies, such as: Canvas LMS Experience Google Workspace Microsoft Office Desir ed Soft Skills: Friendly and Welcoming Strong Communication and Organizational Skills Commitment to Helping Others Commitment to Problem-Solving ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Essential responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following: Instructional Design / Course Implementation Supports the implementation of instructional content within the context of the Learning Management System (LMS), including managing the publication and timely delivery/posting of instructional content. Maintains a critical student-focused lens on all instructional content delivery to ensure that learner perspectives are considered in the delivery of instructional content. Manages clerical aspects of course instructional delivery , including (but not limited to) attendance, assignment publications, and announcements (coordinated with faculty). Participates in lesson planning and course content delivery (coordinated with faculty) in all relevant instructional contexts: online, synchronous, asynchronous, and in-person. Participates in regularly scheduled check-ins with the Faculty Lead. Attends and completes all mandatory per-term training. Participates in data collection and continuous program improvement through completion of pre-, mid-, and post-term surveys and evaluations of experience and performance. Learner Support Supports learner interaction with course content in all relevant instructional contexts: online, synchronous, asynchronous, and in-person. Responds professionally and quickly (per RLNC guidelines) to all student queries and concerns regarding course content and course instruction. Assists learners with specific course-related concepts and problems. Maintains and tracks one hour of weekly Office Hours per course, per team. EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENTS Proficient in use of Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Office Experience working successfully in/with a Learning Management System (Canvas preferred) Familiarity with Ojibwe language and culture Experience supporting student learning preferred EDUCA TION / QUALIFICA TIONS (For current students) Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 (For non-students) 2-year degree preferred This position follows our Red Lake Tribal Member and Indian Preference Policy .
