Come join the crew at Northbound Liquor Store! The City of Elk River is seeking candidates for a fulltime Liquor Store Team Member position. The FT Liquor Store Team Member serves as a cashier and a stock handler. This is a 40 hour/week position and eligible for benefits. The expected starting wage is $24.45 an hour. (2026 salary range $24.45-$32.60/hr.).

Full-time Liquor Store Team Member Position Description

Essential Functions

1. Performs cashier duties.
   1. Rings up sales, receives payment, gives change, provides petty cash services.
   2. Performs miscellaneous maintenance duties to maintain a clean store and orderly merchandise appearance.
2. Performs inventory management activities.
   1. Moves merchandise and stock, unloads deliveries, moves stock to and from the storeroom; inspects and verifies incoming stock.
   2. Stocks merchandise on shelves, in coolers and on displays.
   3. Inventory cycle counts.
   4. Invoices. 
3. Performs other Liquor Store duties.
   1. Makes bank deposits.
   2. Prepares daily cash reports.
   3. Supervises Part-time Liquor Store Team Members employees in absence of Liquor Store Manager.
4. Performs other essential job duties.
   1. Regular and timely work attendance.
   2. Follows all safety procedures.
   3. Participates in safety training.
   4. Others as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. • Knowledge of state and local liquor laws.
   • Skill in operating a cash register and 10-key calculator.
   • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
   • Ability to quickly and accurately make change.
   • Ability to communicate with the public.
   • Ability to attend seminars and classes as directed.
   • Ability to work a variety of hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.
   • Ability to learn and operate computer based inventory management system.

Minimum Qualifications 

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One-year retail cashier experience.
• Must be at least 21 years old.

Preferred Qualifications

• Municipal Liquor Store experience.
• Retail point of sale experience.
• Retail Inventory Experience.
• Forklift operator certified.

  Work ScheduleThis is a 40 hour per week position. Hours of work will be 3 - 4 evenings (2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.), 2 - 3 mid-shifts (10:00/11:00 a.m. to 6:00/7:00 p.m.), and Sundays as needed. Availability on holidays is also required. Employees must be flexible to work based on business needs.
