We are seeking a Functional Tester to join a Quality Assurance team for a contract position of 6+ months, based in Reston, Virginia. This role focuses on borrower validation testing, ensuring that applications, data, and workflows used to verify borrower information are accurate, secure, and reliable.
Responsibilities
- Execute functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing for borrower validation systems.
- Test workflows involving income, credit, employment, and identity verification.
- Create and execute detailed test cases and scenarios based on business and technical requirements.
- Identify, document, and track defects with clear steps to reproduce using Jira or similar tools.
- Work closely with developers, business analysts, and product owners to understand requirements and develop comprehensive testing strategies.
- Validate business rules and ensure application functionality aligns with established guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Create, manage, and validate backend test data to support loan origination and borrower verification testing.
- Verify data flows and integrations across applications and systems.
- Support regression testing following application enhancements, fixes, and releases.
Qualifications
- Required
- Experience in functional software testing, preferably within financial services, mortgage, lending, or fintech.
- Strong understanding of test planning, test case development, execution, and defect management.
- Experience with Jira or similar defect tracking tools.
- Experience testing data-driven applications and backend processes.
- Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into effective test scenarios.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

- Experience with SQL/database validation.
