To view our current vacancies, please click: here.\n \nLocation: District Wide\n \nArea: District Wide\n \nContract Months:10 \n \nPOSITION SUMMARY\n \nThe Future 2 Teacher plays a critical role in guiding students through innovative, experience-based learning designed to accelerate academic growth, develop durable life skills, and increase student engagement. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction while serving as a coach and motivator for students in grades 3\u20138. The Future 2 Teacher supports a non-traditional learning model that blends rigorous academics, adaptive and AI-supported learning, and real-world experiences to prepare students for long-term success.\n \nThe Future 2 Teacher collaborates closely with administrators, learning coaches, apprentices, families, and community partners to ensure students feel known, challenged, and supported while meeting academic and experiential promotion requirements.\n \nILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES\n \n1. Deliver high-quality core academic instruction aligned to HISD curriculum, accountability standards, and Future 2 design principles.\n \n2. Teach mixed-grade cohorts within the Future 2 dyad model for designated courses and learning experiences.\n \n3. Design and facilitate engaging, discussion-driven lessons that promote critical thinking, judgment, collaboration, and adaptability.\n \n4. Integrate AI-enabled and adaptive learning tools to accelerate student learning and model responsible technology use.\n \n5. Explicitly teach and assess Habits of Success using District-adopted rubrics and performance-based assessments.\n \n6. Conduct regular individual and small-group coaching sessions to support student goal-setting, persistence, and accountability.\n \n7. Motivate students to meet academic benchmarks and successfully complete required dyad experiences.\n \nILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES CONTINUED\n \n8. Monitor, track, and analyze student progress toward promotion and performance criteria.\n \n9. Address disengagement or resistance using developmentally appropriate and productive strategies.\n \n10 Maintain a structured, positive learning environment with high expectations for attendance, behavior, and effort.\n \n11 Prepare students for experiential learning opportunities including field trips, community-based learning, and travel experiences.\n \n12 Foster strong, supportive relationships that promote student engagement, confidence, and ownership of learning.\n \n13 Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, expectations, and requirements.\n \n14 Collaborate with administrators, learning coaches, teacher apprentices, and community partners to support student outcomes.\n \n15 Participate in professional development, collaborative planning, and continuous improvement efforts.\n \n16 Support extended-day programming as assigned.\n \nPOSITION REQUIREMENTS\n \nWORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT\n \nWork requires frequent independent judgment in instructional design, motivation strategies, and student support decisions. General supervision is provided, with high expectations for autonomy, professionalism, and instructional effectiveness.\n \nHigh personal standards and ability to hold students to excellence. Strong classroom presence, emotional intelligence, and relationship-building skills. Flexibility and adaptability within a non-traditional instructional model.\n \nBUDGET AUTHORITY\n \nNone.\n \nPROBLEM SOLVING\n \nPosition requires identifying instructional and motivational challenges and implementing appropriate strategies to support student success. Solutions are typically developed collaboratively and refined through feedback and data review.\n \nEducation\n \nBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.\n \nValid Texas Teacher Certification preferred or active enrollment in a certification program.\n \nExperience\n \n0\u20135 years of teaching experience preferred.\n \nExperience coaching, mentoring, or motivating students strongly preferred. Experience guiding students through structured activities to achieve predetermined goals.\n \nOther Requirements\n \nIMPACT OF DECISIONS\n \nDecisions directly impact student engagement, learning outcomes, and promotion readiness. Errors are generally identifiable and correctable through collaboration and coaching.\n \nCOMMUNICATION/INTERACTIONS\n \nRegular interaction with students, families, instructional staff, administrators, and community partners. Communication focuses on instructional clarity, motivation, collaboration, and alignment with Future 2 program expectations.\n \nCUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS\n \nBuilds and maintains strong relationships with students and families.
