Work you'll do
We are seeking a GCP Platform Engineer Contractor to support the project team in building and operating secure, reliable cloud environments. The role focuses on developing reusable Terraform modules, provisioning GCP infrastructure, and applying security and operational best practices. You will collaborate with Data Engineering and AI/ML teams to support data platforms and AI-driven workloads.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain reusable Terraform modules for enterprise cloud environments.
- Provision GCP infrastructure using Terraform and automation frameworks across development, testing, staging, and production environments.
- Build cloud environments from scratch and deploy cloud-native solutions.
- Configure GCP services, including Cloud Run, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Firestore, IAM, Secret Manager, and Cloud Load Balancing.
- Support data platforms using BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, and Cloud Composer.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Cloud Build, GitHub Actions, or equivalent tools.
- Apply infrastructure versioning, automated code reviews, governance controls, and deployment strategies.
- Configure VPCs, subnets, firewall rules, private connectivity, DNS, and SSL certificates.
- Support IAM, service accounts, encryption, and other security controls.
- Conduct security assessments and vulnerability analyses; monitor and respond to security incidents.
- Implement logging, alerting, monitoring, and observability using Cloud Monitoring and related tools.
- Support platform reliability, scalability, high availability, and disaster recovery readiness.
- Build APIs and data connectors using Python, Cloud Functions, or Cloud Run for downstream applications and AI/ML systems.
- Support infrastructure for Vertex AI Agent Engine, Vertex AI Search, Model Armor, and other AI-driven workloads.
- Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analyses, and maintain runbooks and architecture documentation.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to apply security, compliance, and governance practices.
Qualifications
- Experience deploying and supporting infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform.
- Proficiency with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines using Cloud Build, GitHub Actions, or equivalent tools.
- Knowledge of GCP IAM, VPC networking, service accounts, and cloud security controls.
- Experience with Cloud Run, GKE, or other container platforms.
- Experience with GCP data services such as BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, or Cloud Composer.
- Experience developing APIs or data connectors using Python, Cloud Functions, or Cloud Run.
- Familiarity with cloud monitoring, logging, incident response, and production troubleshooting.
- Strong documentation and collaboration skills
The expected pay range for this contract assignment is $70-$75 per hour. The exact pay rate will vary based on skills, experience, and location and will be determined by the third-party whose employees provide services to Deloitte.
