General Maintenance Mechanic

Performs semi-skilled work and assists higher-level coworkers in performing further-skilled tasks in the repair, maintenance, and installation of building, plumbing fixtures/equipment, air-conditioning, electrical, and other mechanical equipment. Handles minor plastering, drywall, cement work, and interior/exterior painting. Assists with maintenance of walls, doors, floors, buildings, stairways, windows, screens, wood fixtures, and furniture. Supports general upkeep of County buildings to ensure a clean, safe, and functional environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires qualified applicants to possess the following:

• Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of four (4) years of experience in building/facilities maintenance, repair, or construction at the semi-skilled level.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred qualifications include (must specify on application):

• Formal training in building maintenance/construction trades,
• Experience repairing, maintaining, or installing carpentry, plumbing, electrical, or air-conditioning equipment in a commercial/institutional/correctional facility, and
• Experience using electrical/mechanical equipment.
