Job Summary: The General Maintenance Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production equipment to support safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations. This role is approximately 60% mechanical maintenance and 40% electrical and controls support, requiring strong mechanical aptitude combined with the ability to diagnose and repair industrial electrical and PLC‑controlled systems
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Maintenance (Primary - ~60%)
Electrical & Controls Maintenance (Secondary - ~40%)
Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial electrical systems associated with mechanically driven equipment, including:
3‑phase motors and motor starters
Control circuits and machine safety circuits
Sensors, limit switches, proximity switches, and photo eyes
Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and motor drives
Read, interpret, and troubleshoot using electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control drawings
Perform electrical diagnostics using test equipment such as multimeters and meters
Provide field‑level troubleshooting support for PLC‑controlled equipment, including:
Verifying inputs, outputs, and device signals
Assisting with Siemens PLC and HMI diagnostics (no programming required)
Document electrical and control system repairs or modifications in accordance with site standards
Preventive Maintenance & Reliability
Complete preventive maintenance tasks emphasizing both mechanical integrity and electrical reliability
Perform condition monitoring by observing equipment operation, listening for abnormalities, and identifying early signs of failure
Communicate with production personnel on routine maintenance practices and equipment care
Accurately complete maintenance documentation, including:
Work orders and PM records
Daily maintenance logs
Repair reports and root cause descriptions
Provide input or updates to mechanical and electrical schematics and maintenance documentation
Perform Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) duties as an Authorized Person for all energy sources
Coordinate contractors through issuance of work permits, including confined space, hot work, elevated work, and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)
Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
High School Diploma required; associate's degree in industrial maintenance preferred
Industrial electricity skills: Trouble shooting 3-phase systems, instrumentation, Basic PLC knowledge and versed in reading electrical schematics and troubleshooting process lines.
Basic knowledge of all Microsoft applications is required
3-5 Years of experience in industrial maintenance required automotive manufacturing environment preferred
