The General Maintenance Worker is responsible for general maintenance and repair services of the Hospital buildings, physical plant, equipment, offices and patient care areas. Duties include fixing and maintaining machines, mechanical equipment, and buildings. Responsibilities also include repairing, flooring/carpeting; working on plumbing, electrical, and air-conditioning/ heating systems; and helping with painting jobs.
Licensure and Certification:
A valid CA driver's license required
Applicable license/certification related to assigned work area preferred
Education:
High School diploma or GED required
Completion of trade or vocational program in building maintenance or related field, or related field; 1 years equivalent experience may be substituted for formal education requirements
Experience:
Minimum 1 years of related work experience; preferably in healthcare setting
Preferred experience working with standard practices, procedures and tools in the general building/maintenance trades
Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge working with materials, equipment and tools related to plumbing, electrical, HVAC codes/systems, and carpentry work
Knowledge of State and local codes and standards; and safety and compliance regulations, including the OSHA & DNV
Ability to read blueprints and mechanical drawings
Accurately estimate materials required to complete projects
Ability to maintain accurate repair and maintenance records
Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools in a safe and effective manner
Skilled in communicating (verbal and written) and obtaining clear and concise information, and to understand/accept directions
Ability to maintain a constant, safe, and organized area while working with string attention to detail
Ability to work cooperatively and effectively in group/team setting
