Generator Technician

Bemana is searching for a Generator Technician to join the field service team of a leading power generation organization in Massachusetts. This is a field-based role focused on troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and commissioning commercial and industrial generator systems ranging from approximately 400kW to 3MW.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of generator service experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and hands-on experience with load banks and larger automatic transfer switches.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial and industrial generators ranging from approximately 400kW to 3MW.

• Perform preventive maintenance and emergency repairs on diesel and gaseous generator systems.

• Conduct load bank testing and troubleshoot larger automatic transfer switches.

• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, AC/DC circuitry, engine, fuel system, controls, and related power generation issues.

• Read electrical schematics and technical documentation while performing equipment startups, commissioning, and modifications.

• Complete detailed service reports, communicate findings, maintain company equipment, and follow all applicable safety requirements.

Requirements

• 2+ years of hands-on generator service and troubleshooting experience.

• Experience with commercial/industrial generators, preferably systems up to 3MW range.

• Hands-on experience with load bank testing and automatic transfer switches.

• Strong knowledge of diesel and/or gaseous engines, AC/DC electrical systems, controls, wiring schematics, and power generation equipment.

• Strong independent troubleshooting and communication skills with the ability to work in the field with minimal supervision.

• Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a DOT Medical Card, participate in the on-call rotation and work up to approximately 50 hours per week as needed.
