    Job Description:

    We are currently seeking a Sr Level Geologist to support a wide variety of environmental projects. The preferred candidate will have extensive field experience working at Superfund and other contaminated sites, running complex field programs, preparing planning documents and preparing reports for environmental characterization and remediation projects.

    As a member of this team, you would contribute to CDM Smith's mission by:

    • Experience supporting environmental investigations, site characterization, remediation, reclamation, or closure activities at active, inactive, or legacy mining sites.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of mine waste characterization, including waste rock, tailings, heap leach facilities, and acid rock drainage/acid mine drainage evaluations.
    • Experience conducting and overseeing drilling programs, monitoring well installation, lithologic logging, core logging, and hydrogeologic investigations.
    • Familiarity with collection and interpretation of groundwater, surface water, soil, sediment, waste rock, and tailings sampling data at mining facilities.
    • Experience evaluating metals fate and transport, geochemistry, water quality, and contaminant migration associated with mining operations.
    • Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations applicable to mining projects, including CERCLA, RCRA, CWA, NEPA, and mine reclamation requirements.
    • Experience preparing or reviewing technical documents such as Sampling and Analysis Plans (SAPs), Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPPs), Remedial Investigation reports, Feasibility Studies, and permit applications.
    • Proficiency with geologic and hydrogeologic conceptual site model development.
    • Experience using GIS, geologic modeling, and environmental data management software to support mine investigations and remediation projects.
    • Familiarity with mine closure planning, reclamation design, and long-term monitoring programs.
    • Experience supporting environmental compliance, permitting, and stakeholder coordination for mining projects.
    • Understanding of geotechnical, hydrogeologic, and geochemical factors affecting mine site stability and environmental performance.
    • MSHA training and experience working safely in active mining environments.
    Skills & Abilities: Expert Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices. Expert knowledge of scientific methods and processes. Expert Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.). Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Expert knowledge of federal, state and local regulations. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Science or related discipline. Registration as a licensed Professional Geologist, as certified by ASBOG. 10 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. Amount of Travel Required: 20% - 40% Driving Requirements : An appropriate and valid driver's license is required. Additional Compensation : All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position. Pay Range Min: USD $87,131.00 Pay Range Max: USD $152,485.00 Visa Sponsorship Available : No-We will not support sponsorship in the United States, i.e. H-1B or TN Visas for this position
