Job Responsibilities
Architecting and maintaining Geospatial Enterprise System and related spatial databases. Establishes and ensures GIS-specific governance frameworks, including standards, policies, and procedures for GIS Enterprise access, use, and compatibility. Coordinates with the stakeholders across the agency, external customers, and vendors.
Designs, develops, and implements tools to automate repeatable or complex geospatial processes for data collection, analysis, review, conversions, updates, integration, and reporting. Designs and deploys web, desktop, and mobile GIS applications. Develops documentation of the established tools and processes and makes it available to all stakeholders, ensuring consistent application across the Agency.
Serves as a subject matter expert in design, development, and maintenance of integrations and interfaces between GIS platforms and other agency systems to enable secure, reliable, and efficient access to geospatial data. Takes part in the establishment of the standards, policies, and procedures for GIS integrations, data standards, data access and sharing. Maintains an authoritative inventory of GIS integrations, tracks their lifecycle and dependencies, monitors performance and issues, and coordinates updates or remediation as needed.
Works with GIS users, managers, and external vendors to implement industry best practices, optimize use of GIS technologies, and ensure vendor solutions align with Agency GIS governance standards.
Ensures GIS systems, integrations, and data access mechanisms follow established security best practices; coordinates with the Information Security Office to align GIS environments with security policies, access controls, and risk management requirements.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A bachelors degree in a related field and four (4) years of relevant work experience, or an associates degree in a related field and six (6) years of relevant work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence. A valid Motor Vehicle Operators license is required.
The physical demands for the essential functions includes sitting or standing at a desk for an extended periods and working on a computer. May be required to lift up to 30 lbs. May be required to work outside normal business hours.
