Description
The Global Category Manager proactively manages purchasing activities and provides support to supplier management system. This individual will execute procurement duties.
Key Responsibilities:
Category Strategy Development: Develop and implement global category strategies aligned with the company’s business objectives, focusing on cost reduction, value creation, and risk mitigation. Prepare, issue and evaluate RFP/RFQs in coordination with Engineering/Operations to develop scope of work and technical specification.
Supplier Relationship Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key global suppliers, driving performance improvements and ensuring compliance with contractual terms and agreements.
Sourcing & Procurement: Lead global sourcing initiatives to select suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage procurement activities across multiple categories including but not limited to equipment, services, logistics, and materials.
Market Analysis: Conduct comprehensive market research to identify emerging trends, new suppliers, and market conditions to inform category strategies and decision-making.
Cost Optimization & Savings: Identify opportunities for cost savings, efficiency improvements, and value enhancements across the supply chain.
Risk Management: Proactively identify and mitigate risks in the supply chain, ensuring continuity of operations in a global market.
Compliance & Reporting: Ensure compliance with corporate policies, industry regulations, and contractual obligations. Prepare regular reports for senior leadership on category performance, savings, and risk management.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
5+ years of experience in category management, strategic sourcing, or procurement within the oil and gas industry.
Must have 4 years of experience of material/equipment purchasing and expediting experience related to A/E industry, including past purchasing agent experience.
