Job Summary
Jump‑start your clinical experience! This program is for RT students who’ve completed their first year and want real‑world exposure. As an RT Extern, you’ll observe routine and advanced respiratory procedures, work closely with licensed RTs, and assist with preparing and cleaning life‑support equipment. It’s the perfect way to build confidence, sharpen skills and get a feel for life on the respiratory care team.
Job Duties
+ Take apart, clean, and reassemble real respiratory equipment, then perform quality‑control checks to make sure everything is patient‑ready.
+ Observe and assist with downloading Nocturnal Oximetry reports, gaining exposure to sleep‑related respiratory monitoring.
+ Practice auscultating lung sounds and reviewing medical records while following all patient‑confidentiality and HIPAA guidelines.
+ Set up oxygen therapy devices at the bedside—then watch the licensed therapist apply the therapy directly to the patient.

High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)- (Required), Associate's Degree-Respiratory Therapy (Preferred)
