Position Purpose: The Government Grants Coordinator (GGC), reporting to the Associate Director of the Office of Government Grants Administration (OGGA), supports OGGA activities across the full lifecycle of a diverse grants portfolio spanning community health services, clinical and community-engaged research, and academic collaborative joint grant initiatives. The GGC plays a key operational role in three functional domains: Pre-Award Development, Post-Award Compliance Coordination, and Education and Collaboration. OGGA is beginning to introduce approved artificial intelligence tools to enhance the quality, speed, and compliance rigor of grant development and portfolio management. The GGC is expected to be a curious but disciplined adopter of AI assisted workflows operating under supervision, within Sinai Chicago's policies, and applicable external guidance.

Key Job Activities:
- Pre-Award Development
- Identify federal, state, and local funding opportunities aligned with Sinai's service, research, and clinical trial priorities, including NIH, HRSA, SAMHSA, CDC, CMS, DOD, PCORI, and major corporations and foundations as needed.
- Explore access and the use of AI-powered opportunity intelligence platforms (e.g., Euna Grant Exec, GovTribe, Candid, SPIN) to surface relevant NOFOs, track funding trends, and provide leadership with early-alert summaries of emerging government grant opportunities.
- Coordinate the preparation and submission of grant applications, including narratives, budgets, biosketches, letters of support, logic models, and required government agency forms via Grants.gov, eRA Commons, Euna, EGrAMS, eProcurement, and other submission portals.
- Use AI writing assistance tools where available to accelerate first-draft development of narrative sections (specific aims, need statements, work plans), and review outputs to ensure accuracy, regulatory compliance, and alignment with Sinai and agency sponsor priorities before distribution and or submission.
- Collaborate with investigators, department heads, finance, legal, and community partners to develop competitive proposals that receive awards at least 70% of the time.
- Review solicitations (NOFOs/RFAs) using AI-assisted document analysis to rapidly assess eligibility, feasibility, funding fit, and strategic alignment, and prepare decision briefs for program managers and entity leadership where appropriate.
- On introduction of a Grant Management Information Software (GMIS), maintain and update in conjunction with the OGGA team a pre-award pipeline tracker, including summaries of active opportunities, draft timelines, and team assignments. Post-Award Coordination and Compliance
- Using GMIS when available and as time allows, support OGGA Compliance in monitoring expenditures across service, research, and clinical trial grants to ensure spending aligns with approved budgets and funder guidelines, including OMB Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200), GATA, GFRA, and agency-specific terms and conditions.
- Use GMIS or AI-assisted budget variance tools and grants management dashboards as OGGA evolves to flag anomalies, project spending rates, and support OGGA compliance in proactive financial stewardship.
- Assist development or review as appropriate by OGGA Compliance of the financial and programmatic progress reports to funding agencies on required timelines, using GMIS or AI assistance to accelerate reporting cycles while ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- In conjunction with OGGA Compliance, assist grant managers as appropriate with budget modifications, no cost extensions, and prior approval requests with sponsoring agencies, supported, if possible, by AI regulatory cross-checks against 2 CFR 200 and agency supplements.
- Track performance metrics and outcome data from OGGA Compliance required for service grant renewals and continuation awards with the available GMIS; explore AI-assisted data extraction from Epic and other institutional systems to support evidence-based reporting.
- Support OGGA Compliance as appropriate in sub-recipient monitoring activities, including risk assessments, site visits, and sub-recipient audit resolution, using AI tools to synthesize documentation and identify compliance gaps.
- Assist Grant Accounting and OGGA Compliance in compiling, organizing, and GMIS/AI-summarizing grant documentation as appropriate for program reviews or financial audits.

Education and Work Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in public health, health administration, business, or a related field required; Master's degree (MHA, MPH, MBA) preferred
- 1-3 years of grants experience in a healthcare, academic medical center, federally qualified health center (FQHC), or nonprofit setting
- Experience with federal, state and local grant portals and GMIS (grants management information systems) a plus
- Experience with Epic or equivalent EHR systems desired, particularly for data extraction in support of grant development and reporting
