    FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

    DOT STATUS: Non-Covered

    SHIFT:  First Shift

    POSITION SUMMARY:  Performs scheduled and non-routine maintenance, daily inspections, major repairs, and overhaul of aviation ground support equipment (including aircraft tow tractors, generators, forklifts, crane, high reach machines, company vehicles, golf carts, aircraft electrical and hydraulic power units, hydraulic aircraft jacks, work stands, welding and fabrication.  Reads and complies with instructions and safety information as necessary for proper and safe completion of assigned work.

    FUNCTIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Performs daily aviation ground support equipment pre-operational inspections, ensures all equipment is fueled ready for use before the beginning of each shift.
    2. Performs major repairs and overhaul of aviation ground support equipment, including aircraft tow tractors, electrical and hydraulic power units, company vehicles trucks, vans, golf cars and other industrial power equipment and industrial power tools throughout the facility.
    3. Performs preventative and non-routine maintenance inspections, including cleaning, general servicing (oil, gas, tires) and other minor maintenance tasks on ground equipment vehicles, including company vehicles, leased power industrial equipment, and aircraft tow tractors.
    4. Performs repairs and periodic maintenance of aircraft auxiliary air power units (APU’s/Airstarts).
    5. Troubleshoots and repairs various electrical and mechanical discrepancies with ground equipment independently.
    6. Performs general maintenance and repairs of various types of work stands, must be able to cut and weld steel. Knowledgeable of MIG, Stick and Oxy/Acetylene welding types.
    7. Drives forklifts, trucks, vans, tow tractors or other vehicles.
    8. Prepares and maintains records of ground support equipment repairs, and maintains vehicle-specific logs and records.
    9. Using hand tools and necessary equipment, performs skilled mechanical work as necessary or instructed.
    10. Lifts and carries hand tools, parts, and work materials; ascends and descends ladders and platforms; and frequently works in a variety of positions such as stooping, kneeling or squatting.
    11. Follows safety procedures and wears and utilizes appropriate safety equipment for the work being performed. 
    12. Reads instructions and safety information as necessary for proper and safe completion of assigned work.
    13. Communicates effectively in English regarding work activities, per FAA requirements.
    14. Performs other duties as assigned.

    REPORTS TO: Assigned Supervisor 

    SUPERVISES:  Non-supervisory role

    HUMAN INTERACTION/COMMUNICATION: In performing the job, an individual in this position experiences significant interface with his or her immediate supervisor, other managers and supervisors, lead workers, other employees, and contract workers.

    POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

    EXPERIENCE:  Minimum two (2) years of relevant experience providing knowledge of related work techniques, equipment terminology, parts, labor, tasks, and processes.

    EDUCATION:  High school diploma or GED required.

    OTHER:  A valid Florida Driver’s License is required.

    COMPUTER SKILLS: Individual will perform daily transactions within Flightstar’s ERP system (AMROS) as well as various equipment maintenance logs.

    SAFETY: Work safely and follow safety rules and regulations. Report unsafe working conditions and behavior. Take reasonable prudent actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices. Adhere to Flightstar’s SMS safety culture.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Lifts and carries hand tools, parts, and work materials; ascends and descends ladders and platforms; and frequently works in a variety of positions such as stooping, kneeling or squatting. Works with approved cleaning materials, cleaning equipment and cleaning solvents.

    MEASUREMENT OF PERFORMANCE: Performance is measured by the degree of success in performing the essential functions of the job. Annual performance evaluations are given upon periodic review and input from the Manager.
