GVT  Bus Driver (Part Time/Relief)

We’re looking for a GVT Bus Driver to join our team in Girdwood, Alaska.

What You’ll Do

As a GVT Bus Driver, you’ll provide safe, reliable, and welcoming transportation along assigned routes while serving as a friendly and professional point of contact for passengers. Safety comes first—you’ll inspect your vehicle, stay aware of changing road and weather conditions, and communicate closely with Operations to keep service running smoothly. 

Your responsibilities will include:

• Safely operate a bus along assigned routes.
• Inspect the bus and its operating systems to ensure safe and proper mechanical operation.
• Review vehicle safety features and identify potential concerns before and during operation.
• Report dangerous road, vehicle, or operating conditions that could impact passenger or public safety.
• Provide friendly, professional service and build positive rapport with passengers.
• Collect fares and answer passenger questions in a helpful and courteous manner.
• Maintain communication with the Operations Manager regarding your location, route conditions, and operational needs.
• Help create a safe, dependable, and welcoming transportation experience for the Girdwood community. 

What We Offer

Starting Wage: $22.00 per hour

What We Need

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• A strong commitment to passenger and public safety.
• Professional, friendly communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to remain attentive and adapt to changing road, weather, and operating conditions.
• Must complete and pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical, provided at the employer’s expense.
• This position is subject to Federal Transit Administration (FTA) pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing. 

What to Expect

Spend your workday behind the wheel serving passengers throughout the Girdwood community.

Regular exposure to Alaska’s changing outdoor weather and road conditions.

Occasionally stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as part of your duties.

Occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.

Maintain the visual awareness and attention necessary to safely operate a passenger vehicle. JD_GVT Bus Driver
