Head Coach & Youth Soccer Program Manager

KidsUnited Park Slope – Brooklyn, NY
    Full-Time | 32–35 hours/week
    $32–$38/hour, based on experience

    About the Role

KidsUnited Park Slope is a youth soccer and early development center serving children ages 1.5–11. We use soccer to develop not only athletic ability, but confidence, communication, decision-making, teamwork, and overall childhood development.

We are looking for an experienced Head Coach & Youth Soccer Program Manager to lead our coaching department.

This is not simply a coaching position. The Head Coach is the leader and face of our coaching program and a key member of the club's management team. You will be responsible for managing and developing our coaching staff while remaining highly involved on the field.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead and manage the KidsUnited Park Slope coaching staff
    • Recruit, interview, onboard, and train new coaches
    • Create staff schedules and manage coaching coverage
    • Observe and evaluate coaches and provide ongoing feedback
    • Address performance, attendance, and accountability issues
    • Lead coach development and professional training
    • Coach approximately 15–20 hours per week
    • Maintain high standards for class quality, safety, energy, and curriculum execution
    • Monitor player development and appropriate class placement
    • Build strong relationships with parents and address coaching/program concerns
    • Support camps, development teams, tournaments, and special programs
    • Work directly with ownership on staffing, program quality, and continued club growth
    • Take ownership of the day-to-day performance of the coaching department
    What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is passionate about coaching but is also ready to lead people and manage a department.

    Required:

    • 2+ years of youth soccer coaching experience
    • Previous experience directly supervising or managing staff is required
    • Experience training, mentoring, or evaluating staff
    • Strong understanding of youth development
    • Strong communication and leadership skills
    • Comfortable providing feedback and holding employees accountable
    • Confident communicating with parents
    • Organized, reliable, and able to solve problems independently
    • Availability for weekday afternoons/evenings and weekends
    Preferred:

    • Previous Head Coach, Lead Coach, Coaching Director, Academy Director, or Program Director experience
    • Experience recruiting, interviewing, or hiring coaches
    • Experience managing multiple employees
    • Experience coaching younger children
    • Competitive playing background
    • Soccer coaching certifications/licenses
    • CPR/First Aid certification
    What Success Looks Like

Our Head Coach doesn't simply coach great classes—they build a great coaching team.

Coaches understand expectations, new staff are properly trained, performance issues are addressed, classes consistently meet KidsUnited standards, parents have confidence in the program, and the coaching department operates effectively without requiring constant direction from ownership.

We are looking for someone who takes ownership, develops people, solves problems, and sets the standard for the coaching team.

This position offers significant opportunity for continued leadership growth as KidsUnited Park Slope expands its programs and membership.
