HEAD MIDDLE SCHOOL ATHLETIC COACH Job Description Job Title: Head Middle School Athletic Coach Location: Caroline Middle School, 13325 Devils Three Jump Rd., Milford, VA Reports To: Athletic Director Employment Type: Stipend position, paid in two installments during the season Position Summary Caroline Middle School is seeking a dependable and positive Head Coach to lead a middle school athletic program. The Head Coach is responsible for practices, games, student-athlete development, safety, communication, and overall team management. Coaches are expected to promote sportsmanship, teamwork, academic responsibility, and school expectations. Key Responsibilities Plan and lead practices, games, and team activities. Teach sport-specific skills, strategies, conditioning, and sportsmanship. Supervise student-athletes and maintain a safe environment. Provide direction to assistant coaches when applicable. Manage uniforms, equipment, and facilities. Prepare and supervise the team on game days. Encourage and support the development of all student-athletes. Communicate professionally with athletes, parents, staff, officials, and the Athletic Director. Enforce school expectations for academics, attendance, behavior, and eligibility. Attend required meetings and training. Work with the Athletic Director on scheduling, transportation, facilities, and other team needs. Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge or experience in the sport being coached. Strong leadership and communication skills. Ability to work well with students, staff, and other coaches. Ability to pass a background check and meet district employment requirements. Preferred Previous coaching or playing experience. CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification. Experience working with middle school-aged students. NFHS, ASEP, or similar coaching certification. Expectations The Head Coach should be: Positive, dependable, and organized. Patient and enthusiastic when working with student-athletes. Committed to teamwork, sportsmanship, effort, and student growth. Flexible and responsive to team and school needs. Working Conditions Practices and games are primarily after school. Some evening and weekend commitments may be required. Activities may take place indoors or outdoors.
