Head Softball Coach

Pius XI Catholic High School, a member of the Park Ridge Conference, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Varsity Head Softball Coach to lead and manage its high school baseball program. The coach will be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and supervision of the varsity Softball team and associated lower-level teams. The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong commitment to student-athlete development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and the educational values of high school athletics, along with modelling and emphasizing our school values. The ideal candidate will develop a positive working relationship with all Pius XI Catholic High School staff in the overall management of the baseball program. The Head Coach is responsible for the direct supervision of an assistant coaching staff and must strictly adhere to all rules and regulations set forth by the High School, the WIAA and the Park Ridge Conference. Key Responsibilities: • Plan, organize, and supervise all aspects of the varsity Softball program, including tryouts, practices, games, and offseason conditioning. • Promote academic success and personal growth among student-athletes in accordance with school and district policies. • Instruct players in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for individual and team success. • Monitor and enforce eligibility requirements and ensure compliance with school, league, and state athletic association rules. • Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, staff, media, and the broader school community. 135 N 76TH STREET MILWAUKEE, WI 53213 414-290-7000 piusxi.org • Collaborate with the Athletic Director and coaching staff to build a consistent and competitive Softball program. • Maintain equipment and uniforms, prepare field and facilities, and coordinate transportation and scheduling logistics. • Foster leadership, discipline, integrity, and teamwork in a safe and positive environment. • Recruit, mentor, and supervise assistant and junior-level coaches. • Manage the Softball program's budget and fundraising activities in partnership with the Athletic Director and school administration. Qualifications: Required: • High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree preferred). • Prior coaching experience, preferably at the high school or collegiate level. • Knowledge of current techniques, strategies, and rules of Softball. • CPR/First Aid Certification. • Ability to pass background checks and meet Pius XI employment standards. Preferred: • Bachelor's degree • Experience with athletic program development and youth mentorship. Work Schedule & Compensation: • This is a seasonal coaching position with additional responsibilities during the offseason.
