Head Start Teacher JobID: 449 Position Type: Early Childhood/Teacher (3 years old and under)Date Posted: 10/23/2026Location: Family Service CenterDate Available: 11/09/2026 Additional Information: Show/HideJob Title: Head Start TeacherDetails:Full time position (10 month/190 Day position)Health insurance, benefits, TRSL retirementSalary is based on experience- starting salary $31,959 PLUS $3,500 StipendOverview of Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in early childhood or closely related fieldAt least one year experience working with young childrenExcellent interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to lift small children as needed and to participate in floor activities.Willing to work flexible hours.Overview of Responsibilities: Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge, understanding and adherence to the philosophy, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and standards of the Family Service Center, Head Start, Louisiana Child Care Licensing and other appropriate entities, including the professional knowledge and skills to carry out activities.Provide daily lesson plans and plans for teacher aide.Provide experiences appropriate to the age level of each child.Develop curriculum which seeks to meet the individual needs of each child.Create and maintain learning centers for small group activities.Arrange and conduct field trips and other special activities.Provide classroom management routine for small group activities.Become knowledgeable of and implement regulations of the Head Start program.Complete center reports and records accurately and on time.Communicate with parents via home visits, conferences, notes, etc.Assist parent meetings and attend parent meetings.Ride school bus in the absence of paraprofessional to ensure the safety of children.Perform any other duties as assigned by the proper authority.
