Health and Safety Coordinator (On-site)

Our client is seeking a Health & Safety Coordinator to provide on-site safety oversight for utility construction and infrastructure projects throughout New Jersey. This role is responsible for promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with OSHA and company safety standards, reviewing contractor safety documentation, conducting field observations, and partnering with project teams to maintain safe work environments.

• Provide safety oversight for construction and utility projects.
• Conduct job site observations and identify potential safety hazards.
• Ensure work is performed in compliance with OSHA, federal, state, local, and company safety regulations.
• Review and evaluate contractor Health & Safety Plans (HASP), Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), and crane lift plans.
• Verify contractors maintain required safety documentation before work begins.
• Attend daily tailboard meetings and reinforce safe work practices.
• Investigate incidents, participate in root cause analysis, and help implement corrective actions.
• Track safety observations, identify trends, and recommend improvements.
• Build strong working relationships with project managers, contractors, and field personnel.
• Exercise Stop Work authority whenever unsafe conditions exist.
• Maintain accurate safety records and reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Safety, Environmental and/or Emergency Management technical area or equivalent electric and/or gas utility construction experience
• Experience reviewing Health & Safety Plans (HASP) and Job Hazard Analyses (JHA).
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety practices.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with project teams.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle required.
• CPR/First Aid certification is a plus.
• CHST, CUSP, or other professional safety certifications are preferred.

Pay Range: $52.00 - $57.00 per hour (Depending on experience and qualifications)
