Under direct supervision, the Health Sciences Scholars Specialist supports the planning, coordination, and delivery of the Health Sciences Scholars Program by providing student mentoring, academic monitoring, career exploration opportunities, and program engagement activities that promote student success and readiness for health sciences education and careers. Working collaboratively with the Program Directors, faculty, staff, healthcare partners, and community stakeholders, this position facilitates program operations, experiential learning opportunities, and student support services to enhance retention, sustain program quality, and strengthen the healthcare workforce pipeline.

This is a part-time position, up to 29 hours per week, no benefits. Hourly rate determined based on experience.

What Youll Do

• Coordinate and facilitate all aspects of the Health Sciences Scholars Program, including orientation, seminars, workshops, experiential learning activities, and student engagement events.
• Provide individualized advising, mentoring, and ongoing support to Scholars by monitoring academic progress, participation, program requirements, and connecting students with appropriate campus and community resources.
• Support instructional activities by coordinating course materials, program resources, assignments, and tracking completion of program milestones and experiential learning requirements.
• Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with students, families, faculty, high school counselors, Career Coaches, College and Career Promise personnel, healthcare partners, and community organizations to support student success and program objectives.
• Coordinate career exploration opportunities, including guest speakers, healthcare professionals, job shadowing, clinical observations, site visits, and other workforce development experiences.
• Serve as the primary communication liaison for the Scholars Program by providing timely information regarding program expectations, deadlines, opportunities, events, and recruitment activities.
• Maintain accurate program records, student data, reports, correspondence, and other required documentation; assist with budget tracking, purchasing, and operational support.
• Collect, analyze, and report participation, retention, and student success data to support program assessment, continuous improvement, accreditation or reporting requirements, and strategic workforce development initiatives.
• Assist with recruitment, outreach, marketing, and community engagement efforts to promote the Health Sciences Scholars Program and expand student participation.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of the Health Sciences Division and the College.

What We Are Looking For

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate degree in office administration, education, healthcare, student services, counseling or related field from a regionally accredited college or university.
• At least three (3) years of full-time clerical experience in a college, university, or healthcare setting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience coordinating educational programs, student success initiatives, or enrichment activities is preferred.

Additional Information

Work Environment: Work is performed primarily in an office, classroom, and campus environment with frequent interaction with students, faculty, staff, healthcare partners, and community organizations. Responsibilities include planning and facilitating meetings, orientations, workshops, and student engagement activities, as well as occasional travel between campus locations and off-site healthcare facilities or community partner locations for experiential learning opportunities, recruitment, and outreach events. The position requires regular use of computers, instructional technology, and standard office equipment. Evening and weekend activities may be required to support program events and student engagement.

• Work is primarily sedentary with frequent sitting, standing, walking, speaking, and listening.
• Requires regular use of a computer, keyboard, telephone, and other office equipment.
• Requires frequent movement throughout campus and occasional travel to partner sites
• Ability to occasionally lift, carry, or move materials, supplies, or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds
• Visual acuity and manual dexterity are required to prepare reports, maintain records, and utilize technology.

Normal Working Hours: Part-Time, up to 29 hours per week as determined by the supervisor and department needs. Occasional early morning, evening, or weekend hours may be required to support orientations, workshops, recruitment activities, student events, healthcare partner engagement, and other program-related functions. The schedule may vary throughout the academic year to accommodate program operations and student needs.
