Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic

A fleet only runs as well as the people keeping it on the road. When the trucks roll out on time, the brakes hold, and nothing breaks down on the highway, that is a shop doing it right.

We are looking for an experienced Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic to keep our trucks, trailers, and equipment in top shape and help us stay ahead of downtime every single day.

The Role

As a Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic, you will inspect, maintain, diagnose, and repair our heavy duty trucks, trailers, and related equipment. You will handle the preventive work that keeps problems from starting and the repairs that get equipment back in service fast.

This is a hands on role for someone who knows diesel. You will be in the shop, under the rigs, and trusted to get it right the first time.

What You Will Do

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on heavy duty trucks, trailers, and equipment
• Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, steering, electrical, and hydraulic systems
• Inspect equipment and catch mechanical issues before they turn into downtime
• Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems using diagnostic tools and equipment
• Repair or replace defective parts, components, and systems
• Handle oil changes, fluid checks, brake repairs, filter replacements, and other scheduled maintenance
• Inspect and maintain air brake systems, cooling systems, and suspension components
• Keep trailers road ready, including lights, brakes, landing gear, and tires
• Complete work orders and accurately document repairs, parts, and labor
• Flag major repairs and equipment concerns to the Fleet and Maintenance Manager
• Keep your work area clean, organized, and safe
• Follow every company safety procedure along with DOT and OSHA requirements
• Use and care for hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop equipment
• Help with emergency and breakdown repairs when needed
• Pitch in on other maintenance duties as assigned

What It Takes

• Experience working on heavy duty trucks, trailers, or fleet equipment
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines and mechanical systems
• Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, brake, suspension, and transmission systems
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems
• Comfortable reading and understanding mechanical and electrical schematics
• Able to lift, bend, kneel, stand, and work around heavy equipment as the job requires

Schedule & Pay

This is a full time role running Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Most days run on a steady rhythm. When a truck breaks down, you may be called on to help get it back on the road.

Pay ranges from $50,000 to $55,000 per year.

Work Environment

You will be on your feet in a working shop, around heavy trucks, trailers, and moving equipment. Expect grease, noise, and changing temperatures depending on the season. You should be comfortable lifting, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods as part of normal shop work.
