    Job Description

    Your day, your impact

You start in the shop, open your laptop-based service system, and pull OEM schematics for a machine throwing CAN faults. By mid-morning, you’ve traced an intermittent electrical issue to a worn connector, documented the repair to OEM standards, and briefed the customer on preventive steps. After lunch, a field call takes you to a construction site to set up and calibrate a hydraulic system. Before heading home, you help a newer tech make sense of a powertrain noise with a quick failure analysis. That’s a typical day in this role.

    The role

This hands-on technician position supports advanced equipment diagnostics and repairs primarily in a shop setting, with occasional field assignments. You’ll report to a Shop Supervisor and be equipped with OEM diagnostic tools, service manuals, parts resources, laptop-based systems, and full shop and field tooling.

    What you’ll handle

    • Pinpoint and repair issues across diesel engines, hydraulic systems, powertrains, electrical systems, HVAC, and electronic/computer-controlled platforms.
    • Conduct failure analysis, inspections, equipment setup, adjustments, and in-season service work.
    • Leverage diagnostic software, wiring/hydraulic schematics, and technical documentation to troubleshoot efficiently.
    • Complete repairs to OEM specifications and aim for first-time resolution of customer concerns.
    • Perform field service at customer locations and collaborate with other technicians when needed.
    • Accurately capture labor, repair notes, service reports, and warranty data using laptop-based service systems.
    • Flag and recommend preventive maintenance to avoid future failures.
    • Communicate clearly and professionally with customers about findings and repair plans.
    • Adhere to safety procedures in both shop and field environments.
    • Support onboarding and skill-building for newer technicians and interns; provide leadership when required.

    What you bring

2+ years of experience working on large heavy equipment, construction or agricultural machinery, or comparable assets—able to truly diagnose, not just swap parts.

    • Advanced diesel engine troubleshooting and repair capability.
    • Solid understanding of hydraulics and components; can read and apply schematics.
    • Electrical/electronic diagnostics with schematic literacy.
    • Comfort with computerized diagnostics and electronically controlled equipment.
    • Customer-facing communication skills that build trust.
    • Ability to lift about 50 lbs occasionally and stand for extended periods.
    • Valid driver’s license with a verifiable safe driving record.
    • Willingness to travel within the assigned territory and work extra hours during peak seasons.

Tools, tech, and platforms you’ll see

    • Diesel Engine (Detroit Diesel, Cummins, PACCAR)
    • aerial work platforms AWP
    • agricultural equipment
    • Caterpillar
    • Construction Equipment
    • JGL
    • John Deere
    • Rental Equipment
    • Kubota

    How you’ll grow

Develop deeper expertise in modern diesel, hydraulic, electrical, electronic, and precision-agriculture systems. As your technical and leadership skills advance, your path can lead to Lead, Trainer, Specialist, or broader Leadership roles, with additional factory-level training along the way.
