Heavy Equipment Operator Excavation YB Excavation A Division of The Yard Butler Location: Idaho Falls, ID Job Type: Full-Time Pay: $25.00$40.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications Position Summary YB Excavation is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our growing excavation team. This position is responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy equipment on a variety of excavation projects throughout Eastern Idaho. Projects may include site development, earthwork, grading, excavation, underground utilities, trenching, backfill, and related civil construction work. We are looking for an operator who takes pride in their work, understands how to work safely and efficiently around crews and equipment, and can consistently produce quality work while meeting project specifications and production expectations. Key Responsibilities Safely operate heavy construction equipment including excavators, loaders, dozers, skid steers, compactors, and other equipment as assigned.Perform excavation, grading, trenching, backfilling, loading, material placement, and site-development work.Excavate around existing underground utilities and other structures safely and accurately.Assist with installation of water, sewer, storm drain, and other underground utility systems.Read and understand grade stakes, plans, elevations, and project specifications.Maintain proper grades and elevations according to project requirements.Perform finish grading and precision excavation when required.Complete daily equipment inspections and identify maintenance or safety concerns.Maintain equipment in clean and serviceable condition.Immediately report equipment damage, mechanical problems, safety concerns, or job-site issues to supervision.Work closely with Foremen, Superintendents, Project Managers, laborers, truck drivers, and other equipment operators.Follow project schedules and production expectations.Assist with general job-site duties when equipment operation is not required.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.Follow all company safety policies and procedures.Properly utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE).Perform additional duties as assigned based on project needs. Qualifications Previous heavy equipment operating experience in excavation, civil construction, site development, underground utilities, or a related field preferred.Experience operating excavators and other heavy construction equipment.Ability to safely work around underground utilities, trenches, equipment, trucks, and ground personnel.Knowledge of excavation, grading, trenching, backfilling, and general civil construction practices.Ability to understand grades, elevations, and construction layouts.Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.Strong awareness of job-site safety and equipment operating procedures.Dependable attendance and ability to report to work on time.Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and job-site conditions.Ability to perform physical work associated with excavation and civil construction.Valid driver's license preferred.
