Heavy Equipment Operator / Foreman

Role Overview:

The Heavy Equipment Operator/Foreman is a hands-on leader who is responsible for leading their field crew in daily operations, ensuring all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project schedules, company standards, and client expectations. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who takes pride in their work, recognizes problems early, provides solutions and is accountable for the overall success of each job.

Key Responsibilities

·      Expertly operate excavators, skid-steers, loaders and other heavy equipment while overseeing daily project activities.

·      Organize and delegate tasks to the crew to ensure they understand the scope of work and meet company standards.

·      Perform daily expectation meetings and set the example safety, productivity and accountability

·      Ensure work is completed according to project plans and identify potential issues or changes to scope of work that could affect the project timeline.

·      Communicate daily updates to management regarding job progress, labor, equipment and material needs to avoid potential delays in the schedule.

·      Ability to read blueprints and understand grades and elevations.

·      Maintain accurate daily job notes, time records and other required field documentation.

·      Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

·      Strong understanding of job site safety practices, excavation, grading, drainage and general site work.

·      Proficiency in operating and maintaining excavation equipment.

·      Excellent communication, organization, and team leadership skills.

·      Dependable, punctual and committed to quality workmanship.

·      Ability to read and interpret project plans, drawings, and specifications.

·      Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, CDL A preferred

·      Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

·      Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform manual labor as needed.

·      Must be able to work extended hours, including early mornings and snow events.
