Eastern Florida State College is currently seeking applications for the full-time position of Heavy Equipment Operator I on the Cocoa Campus in Cocoa, Florida.

Salary & Benefit

The annual salary is $34,000. Successful internal candidates for external job postings should be aware that their current salary does not transfer to the new position. Salary will be as advertised in the job announcement. Full-time employees of Eastern Florida State College receive fringe benefits including health insurance and a retirement plan.

Position Concept

Will be responsible for the operation of various pieces of heavy equipment such as dump truck, frontend loader with backhoe, track hoe, dozer, tractor with lowboy, grader and compactor roller; will also be responsible for general upkeep of equipment making sure all equipment is in good working order and meets all safety requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

The following minimum qualifications for this position must be met before any applicants will be considered:

• High school Diploma or GED with a minimum of two years' experience with the operation of various types of heavy equipment.
• Must obtain a Valid Florida CDL Class A driver's license within one year of hire date.
• Ability to operate all types of heavy equipment.
• Knowledge of the usage of all heavy equipment used by the college.
• Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
• Ability to access, input, and retrieve information and/or date from a computer.
• Valid Florida Motor Vehicle Operator's license required.
• This position will require successful fingerprinting and the candidate chosen will be required to pay the associated fee (currently $36.00). This fingerprinting fee ($36.00) is non-refundable.

• Official transcripts of all collegiate work will be required to be considered beyond the application phase.*
• High School Diploma or GED or transcripts or official transcripts of all collegiate work (as appropriate for the position) must be sent directly from the attended institution to the Human Resources Office prior to the first day of employment. All foreign degrees must have a course-by-course official evaluation and translation sent to the Human Resources Office directly from an evaluation company affiliated with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc.

Minimum physical qualifications:

• Must have the ability to lift, push, pull and/or move up to 40+ pounds.
• Must have the ability to sit for long periods of time.
• Must have the ability to stand, squat or kneel for extended periods of time.
• Must have the ability to use a shovel, sledgehammer and other construction hand tools.
• Must have good hand eye coordination.
• Works outside in various weather conditions.
• Works in or with moving vehicles and/or equipment.
• Works in noisy conditions

Notes
