Heavy Equipment Operator

Brandt Excavating is looking for a qualified Heavy Equipment Operator to support safe, efficient progress on our excavation and site development projects based in Martell, NE, 15 miles southwest of Lincoln. This position operates a variety of heavy equipment - including graders, tractors, backhoes, loaders, dump trucks, and skid steers to support site preparation, earthwork, general excavation and construction activities.Heavy Equipment Operator Responsibilities:

• Operates graders for leveling and tractors for loading materials such as dirt, rock, and debris.
• Operates backhoes and front‑end loaders as required for excavation, loading, and material handling.
• Operates skid steer loaders to transport and place materials.
• Performs general site preparation and related operational assignments using various heavy equipment.
• Conducts routine inspections, cleaning, and basic maintenance on assigned equipment.
• Ensure proper care, safe operation, and maintenance of equipment and supplies; actively promote continuous improvement of workplace safety practices.
• May assist in training or guiding other team members depending on operational needs.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Heavy Equipment Operator Requirements:

• Minimum of one year of experience operating heavy equipment in excavation, construction, or related fields.
• Demonstrated ability to operate heavy equipment safely and effectively.
• Working knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.
• Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to the job.
• Ability to read, understand and follow safety procedures, operational guidelines and site instructions.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

• Requires physical activity including heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling of objects over 50 lbs.
• Work environment involves exposure to physical risks and requires adherence to safety precautions.
• Work may involve exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, loud noises, and varying weather conditions.
• Other duties as assigned.
