Heavy Equipment Technician Cranes

About the Role

The Crane Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing mobile rental/construction equipment and on-highway trucks. This role is crucial in ensuring that equipment is operational and safe, contributing to the organization's commitment to safety and customer satisfaction. The position supports the successful completion of projects by ensuring equipment reliability and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance on rough terrain and crawler cranes.
• Operate and test equipment during the rental ready process.
• Diagnose and repair equipment using electronic diagnostic equipment.
• Assist in rebuilding and repairing major machine components.
• Identify repairs covered by warranty.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Produce timely and detailed service reports.
• Uphold and practice high safety standards.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• Proficient in oral and written communication skills.
• Pass drug test and background check.
• Ability to work nights and weekends.
• 1 year of experience working with rough terrain and crawler cranes.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged standing, crouching, bending, climbing, stooping, reaching, twisting, pushing, and pulling.
• Repetitive wrist and hand movements, hearing and seeing (depth perception and peripheral vision).
• Standing for long periods of time.
• Sitting for long periods of time.
• Work outside in all weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.
• Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
• Frequently exposed to fumes and airborne particles.
• Must be able to safely climb various types of ladders.
• Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds.
• Must be able to climb on and off trucks, cranes, and heavy mobile equipment safely.
• Frequent walking on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions.

Work Environment

• Onsite heavy equipment repair shop and outdoors.
• Exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, dust, grease, vibration, and other environmental conditions.
• Work around moving machinery, powered equipment, hydraulic systems, diesel engines, electrical components, and other shop hazards.
• Adhere to strict safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, reaching, and lifting heavy components.
• Ability to safely operate equipment and use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and OEM software.
• Maintain constant awareness of surroundings and work safely in a fast-paced environment.
