Select Sires, Inc. is currently seeking candidates to join our team as a Help Desk Technician (Level 1). This hourly, non-exempt position is at our Plain City, OH facility and reports to the Director of Technical Infrastructure and Cybersecurity. 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Help Desk Technician is the first point of contact for employees who need IT help. The role answers calls, emails and tickets, resolves common hardware, software and account problems, and escalates more complex issues to Level 2 support or system and network administrators. Good service and clear communication matter as much as technical skill in this role.

Specific duties and responsibilities of a Help Desk Technician (Level 1) include, but are not limited to,

• Serve as an ambassador of Select Sires’ Mission and Core Values, demonstrating professionalism, teamwork, and a commitment to animal well-being in every task. 
• Respond to IT requests by phone, email, chat and the ticketing system, in person or by remote support.
• Log, prioritize and track every request in the ticketing system until it is resolved.
• Reset passwords, unlock accounts and set up multi-factor authentication.
• Troubleshoot Windows PCs, laptops, printers, mobile devices and peripherals.
• Support Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Teams, OneDrive and Office.
• Set up computers and accounts for new hires and recover equipment and remove access when employees leave.
• Install approved software and apply basic updates.
• Escalate complex issues to Level 2 support or system and network administrators, with clear notes on what was tried.
• Keep track of IT equipment and update the asset inventory.
• Write and update how-to articles for common problems.
• Follow security procedures and report suspicious emails or activity to the security team.

A Help Desk Technician (Level 1) 's work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Work schedules and duties are subject to change to meet departmental needs.

  REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES OF A HELP DESK TECHNICIAN (LEVEL 1): 

• Working knowledge of Windows 11 and Microsoft 365 applications.
• Basic understanding of PC hardware, printers and mobile devices.
• Basic networking knowledge, such as Wi-Fi, IP addresses and VPN.
• Strong customer service skills, patience and clear communication with non-technical users.
• Ability to stay organized and manage several requests at once.

REFERRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES OF A HELP DESK TECHNICIAN (LEVEL 1):

• CompTIA A+ certification, or willingness to earn it within the first year – preferred
• Familiarity with Active Directory account tasks is a plus.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE OF A HELP DESK TECHNICIAN (LEVEL 1):

• High school diploma or equivalent

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE OF A HELP DESK TECHNICIAN (LEVEL 1):

• Associate degree or IT certificate 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF A HELP DESK TECHNICIAN (LEVEL 1):

• Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds.
