Job Description

Hersheypark amusement park spans 121-acres and welcomes guests to experience Hersheypark Happy all year long! As the largest amusement park in Pennsylvania, Hersheypark is home to more than 70 rides, including 15 coasters and 20+ kiddie rides, as well as a zoo and an entire water park.

During a typical week as a Hersheypark Leadership Development Intern, you work as a Hersheypark Team Member, live alongside fellow interns, develop your skills in weekly professional development sessions, and interact with hospitality and entertainment professionals across multiple departments within Hershey Entertainment & Resorts.

This is a paid internship. Hourly pay rates range from $12 - $15 per hour. (Exact rates vary by departmental assignment.)

Job Duties (Duties marked with an asterisk are essential functions of this job):

  • Gain Hands-On Experience: Work directly in one of our main operational departments in Hersheypark as a Team Member. (While some placements are based on prior experience and business needs, most positions are in Rides & Attractions, Lifeguarding, or Food & Beverage.)*
  • Grow Professionally: Participate in weekly professional development sessions, featuring modules like the CliftonStrengths Assessment and workshops dedicated to polishing your professionalism. (Attendance during classroom training is required in order to earn a "Certificate of Completion" at the end of the program.)*

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older at the start of the program.
  • Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelors degree program at an accredited university. All majors and class years are encouraged to apply.
  • Certain positions will be required to complete pre-employment drug testing and/or a post-employment RAMP certification.

  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively.
  • Abide by Hersheypark appearance standards.

Job Demands:

  • Housing: Company coordinated housing is available for this opportunity. If utilized, a weekly housing fee, inclusive of utilities and limited transportation, will be automatically deducted from students' biweekly paychecks. Upon commitment to employee housing, HE&R will charge a $180 housing fee, inclusive of a refundable $160 housing deposit and a nonrefundable $20 insurance waiver fee.
  • Program Dates: Interns taking advantage of our company coordinated housing will be expected to move in and begin their internship on May 15th 2027, as well as be available to work through August 7th 2027.
  • Students residing outside of 50 miles to Hersheypark are required to stay at the company coordinated Housing Complex. If not utilizing company coordinated housing, reliable transportation to and from work, as well as to the professional development sessions, is required.
  • Work Schedule Requirements: This internship will be scheduled for up to 5 closing shifts and average up to 40 hours per week, with fixed weekly schedules set by the program; interns cannot adjust their base schedule or request availability for specific shifts. (Intern work schedules will consist of Thursday - Monday or Friday - Tuesday, based strictly on the interns assigned weekly professional development session day.)
  • Interns will be paid for classroom time.
  • There may be an opportunity for the intern to pick up additional shifts based upon operational demand.
  • Physical requirements include standing, sitting, walking, and communicating with employees and guests.
  • The working conditions include indoor and/or outdoor environments with the potential to work in various weather conditions.
