High School PE Teacher

Sonoran Science Academy Tucson is an A-rated, STEM-focused public charter school and part of the Sonoran Schools network, a leader in K-12 STEM education since 2001. We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Physical Education Teacher who is passionate about student wellness, movement, and building a positive, inclusive environment where every student can thrive.

Your Role Will Include:

• Implementing a developmentally appropriate PE curriculum aligned with Arizona Academic Standards across grade levels.
• Teaching fundamental movement skills, physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
• Integrating health and wellness concepts including nutrition, mental well-being, and injury prevention.
• Modifying activities to accommodate students of all skill levels and abilities.
• Establishing a positive, structured, and inclusive environment that encourages participation and student safety.
• Evaluating student performance based on participation, effort, skill development, and behavior.
• Maintaining student progress records and communicating with families and administration.
• Organizing and supervising extracurricular activities such as structured recess, sports clubs, field days, and fitness challenges.
• Collaborating with staff and participating in school events, professional development, and faculty meetings.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, preferably in Physical Education or a related field.
• Valid Arizona teaching license or certification in Physical Education (preferred).
• Two or more years of teaching experience, with experience working with high school students preferred.
• Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to stand, walk, run, and actively engage in physical activity for extended periods.
• Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Salary and Benefits:

• Pay: $55,000 to $62,750 per year.

Location & Shift Times:

• Sonoran Science Academy Tucson.
• Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM to 4:15 PM.
