Eastchester High School is seeking candidates to fill the position of Permanent Building Substitute Teacher.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to deliver instructional lesson plans and classroom routines with accuracy, using a student-centered approach to teaching.
  • Effective communication skills to instruct students in a clear, understandable, and supportive manner.
  • Effective classroom management skills.
  • Capable of keeping accurate attendance and classroom records.
  • Good organization and problem solving skills.

Duties:

  • Provide instruction to students through the school day.
  • Attend all after-school faculty and other meetings, as required.

Requirements:

  • Required: Minimum NYS Initial or Intern Teaching Certification
  • NYSED Fingerprint Clearance
  • Experience working with children in a classroom setting

Employment Terms:

Days: 186 days per school year

Hours: 7:45 AM - 2:55 PM, 40 min lunch

Salary: $200 per diem

Health Insurance: Single Coverage included (for certified individuals only)

Prerequisite:

Fingerprint Clearance: SAVE Law: Effective July 1, 2001, Education Law §§305(30), 3004-b, 3004-c and 3035, as amended by Chapter 180 of the Laws of 2000, and Part 87 of the Commissioner's Regulations require the Commissioner of Education to request a fingerprint-supported criminal history background check for applicants for certification as well as for prospective employees of school districts, charter schools and boards of cooperative educational services (BOCES). The Commissioner of Education carries out these responsibilities through the New York State Education Department's Office of School Personnel Review and Accountability (OSPRA).
