Community High School is looking for a Special Education Aide to join us in our mission as we seek excellence in academics, arts, and athletics from the foundation of love.

Job Description / Essential Elements: Print

Provide academic support to students with IEPs, both in classrooms and learning lab settings. Collaborate with special and regular education teachers to implement lessons and accommodations.

Requirements / Qualifications

High School Degree or equivalent. Experience in supporting student's with disabilities preferred. Trained in Non Violent Crisis Intervention preferred (e.g. CPI). Employment is contingent on satisfactory completion of a criminal background check and negative TB skin test or chest X-ray. Resume Cover Letter

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS AND SUPPORT INCLUDE: GROWTH & EMPOWERMENT -Two teacher credentialing programs -Teacher Intern Program -Induction Program (Free for King-Chavez employees) -1-2 minimum days per month to facilitate on-going professional development -Stipends for club leaders, athletic coaches, and other additional responsibilities SUPPORT -Small class sizes -Built in planning and grading time -Team building opportunities -Collaboration with teachers, tutors, academic coaches, special education team, counselors, and school psychologists -Partnerships with local organizations to support student/family needs HEALTH, WELLNESS, AND WORK/LIFE BALANCE Full time teachers receive time off in observance of federal holidays along with: -10 sick days -One week break for October Intersession -One week break for Thanksgiving -Three week Winter Break -One week Spring Break -Approximately seven weeks of Summer Vacation -6.25 hour instructional day at elementary school sites -Up to 6.75 hour instructional day at middle/high school sites -Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement benefits through CalSTRS -Paid maternity and paternity leave -Free access to Tickets at Work, including exclusive discounts and special offers for theme parks, attractions, hotels, concerts, movie tickets and more
