Shift: Monday Friday | 1:30 PM 10:00 PM | Saturday rotation required

Job Summary

We are seeking a Histotechnologist (HTL) or Histotechnician (HT) to join a histology team in South Bend, IN. This full-time evening position is responsible for preparing surgical tissue specimens for microscopic examination through processing, embedding, microtomy/sectioning, staining, and labeling.

The position also performs high-complexity testing, special stains, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and immunofluorescence (IF). This is an excellent opportunity for a certified histology professional looking to expand their technical experience in a comprehensive histology environment.

Responsibilities

• Process surgical tissue specimens according to established histology procedures.
• Perform tissue embedding and microtomy/sectioning of prepared specimens.
• Stain and accurately label slides for microscopic examination.
• Perform assigned high-complexity laboratory testing under appropriate supervision.
• Prepare reagents and dilutions required for routine and specialized staining procedures.
• Perform special stains, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and immunofluorescence (IF) procedures.
• Ensure specimens, blocks, and slides are handled and identified accurately throughout processing.
• Follow established procedures to maintain quality and consistency of prepared tissue sections and slides.
• Maintain accurate documentation of testing and laboratory activities.
• Follow established quality control, safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work environment.
• Collaborate effectively with other histology and pathology team members.

Qualifications / Requirements

Candidates may qualify through either the Histotechnologist (HTL) or Histotechnician (HT) pathway:

Histotechnologist (HTL):

• Bachelor's degree in Science required.
• Completion of an approved Histotechnology program.
• HTL certification, such as HTL(ASCP), required.
• Previous histology experience preferred.

Histotechnician (HT):

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited Histology program.
• HT certification, such as HT(ASCP), required.
• Previous histology experience preferred.
