Home Infusion Registered Nurse — PRN

We are hiring a home infusion registered nurse (RN) for PRN / as-needed visits in Austin, TX. Visits are in patients’ homes in and around Austin and the surrounding Central Texas area (Travis County and neighboring communities). Local travel within the assigned service area is required. Assignments depend on patient referrals and service needs, so hours and volume vary and are not guaranteed; scheduling is flexible, based on patient needs and your availability. On each visit you will provide skilled home infusion therapy, including IV medications, biologics, IVIG, antibiotics and hydration, in line with physician orders and pharmacy protocols: assessing the patient before, during and after the infusion, starting and managing peripheral IVs and caring for PICC lines, ports and other vascular access devices within your scope and competency, and watching for and responding to adverse reactions. You will teach patients and caregivers about their medications and line care, keep the pharmacy, physician and care team informed of changes, and complete electronic documentation after each visit. Before each treatment you will verify the medication, dose, route, frequency, supplies and physician and pharmacy orders; you will maintain infection-control and medication-safety standards in the home, and track the supplies you use, promptly reporting any supply or medication concern. This role also requires strong patient assessment, documentation and education skills; the ability to work independently in patients’ homes; a smartphone and reliable internet access for scheduling and electronic documentation; and the ability to meet applicable background, health-screening and employment-compliance requirements.

Required

• Current, unrestricted Texas RN license
• Current BLS/CPR certification
• At least 1 year of recent nursing experience
• Peripheral IV insertion and central-line care within scope
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license

Preferred

• Home infusion, infusion center, ER, ICU, oncology or vascular-access experience

Schedule: Part-time / PRN
Pay: $40–$50 per hour, depending on experience and assignment
