Location: Chicago, IL

Job Description:

The Insurance Follow Up Representative is responsible for managing all aspects of the hospital billing and reimbursement process. This role requires someone with attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a background in healthcare billing and insurance claims resolution. The role starts onsite for training and transitions to a hybrid model (3 days remote, 2 days onsite) upon demonstrated performance.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Submit claims to government entities, private payers, and patients in compliance with payer guidelines
  • Resolve claim edits in Epic and clearinghouse systems; collaborate with internal departments to reduce rework
  • Update demographic and insurance information; verify eligibility and retrieve referrals
  • Resolve denials and payment variances with thorough root cause analysis
  • Ensure claims are sent and received timely
  • Process incoming correspondence and inquiries from payers
  • Handle internal transfers, process refunds, and manage credit balances
  • Complete other revenue cycle-related duties as needed

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in medical billing, collections, or revenue cycle operations
  • Knowledge of insurance claims, EOBs, and denial management
  • Proficiency in Epic required
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Additional Details:

  • Type of Assignment: Contract-to-Hire (CTH)
  • Hours: M–F, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM
  • Training: Fully onsite; hybrid schedule available post-training
