Join Our Team: Host & Market Attendant

Lillian’s Petite Market & Eatery is looking for an outgoing, hospitality-minded Host & Market Attendant who loves connecting with people, selling great products, and being part of a neighborhood restaurant and market.


We are primarily looking for a full-time daytime team member, but we will also consider part-time candidates who can commit to a consistent, set weekly schedule.


This is a unique front-of-house position combining restaurant hosting, market sales and merchandising, with opportunities to serve patio tables, train as a barista, and grow into additional serving shifts.

Lillian’s is a neighborhood market, café, wine bar, and restaurant in Charleston. We’re passionate about bringing people together through great food, warm hospitality, and products from local makers and small businesses.


Our mornings begin with counter-service breakfast, followed by traditional table service for lunch, brunch, and dinner. Our market is an important part of what we do, and this position helps connect the two.


The Role


You’ll be one of the first people our guests and neighbors see when they walk through the door, so genuine hospitality and a love of talking with people are essential.


Part of your day will be focused on the restaurant—welcoming guests, managing reservations and seating, answering questions, and helping service run smoothly.


The other part is sales-focused. You’ll help guests discover products in our market, learn the stories behind the local makers and small businesses we carry, make recommendations, merchandise products, and help us find creative ways to promote and sell what’s in the market.


There is also an opportunity to serve patio tables and earn additional tips, as well as cross-train as a barista and learn our coffee program. For someone interested in growing within the restaurant, there may also be opportunities to train for additional serving shifts as you gain experience.


Schedule


We are primarily looking for a full-time daytime team member, but we will also consider part-time candidates who can commit to a consistent, set weekly schedule.


Monday–Friday: 10:00 AM–4:00 PM
Saturday & Sunday: 8:30 AM–3:30 PM


Weekend availability is preferred.


What You’ll Do

• Welcome guests and neighbors with genuine, warm hospitality
• Manage reservations, waitlists, and restaurant seating
• Help market customers with purchases and product recommendations
• Learn about our local makers, wines, specialty foods, gifts, and other market products
• Confidently talk with guests about products and help drive market sales
• Merchandise, restock, and keep the market inviting and organized
• Help develop creative ways to showcase and promote market items
• Serve patio tables as needed
• Answer phones and assist with guest inquiries
• Communicate closely with servers, bartenders, baristas, and the kitchen
• Help keep the host stand, market, and guest areas clean and organized
• Build relationships with our regular guests and neighborhood community

Who We’re Looking For


We’re looking for someone who is outgoing, dependable, organized, and comfortable starting conversations with people.


You should genuinely enjoy selling—not in a high-pressure way, but because you like learning about products, sharing their stories, making recommendations, and helping someone discover something they’ll love.


Restaurant, retail, sales, coffee, or hospitality experience is a plus, but a positive attitude, initiative, and willingness to learn are most important.


You should be comfortable moving between different responsibilities throughout the day and enjoy being part of a busy, collaborative environment.
