SUMMARY
The Host/Hostess coordinates dining reservations and activities to waitstaff to provide fast and courteous service to patrons. This position is the first to interact with guests and possesses a friendly, personable, information and professional demeanor while performing the following essential duties and responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following, other duties may be assigned)
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read & comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, & memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one & small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Point of Sale and Order Processing systems.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Certification by the Vermont Department of Liquor Control (every 2 years) preferred.
OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES
Ability to speak and understand the French language is preferred but not required. Excellent customer service skills required.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Must be available to work nights, weekends, holidays and fill in as needed.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
RESORT CONDITIONS
This is a Winter Resort Area. It requires that work venues are varied, and in many cases include steep stairways, multilevel buildings and outdoor work areas, subject to very cold, sometimes wet or very sunny work sites. Some facilities are located at the base or bottom area and some are semi-remote and can only be reached by traveling via chair lift(s), skis or snowboards. Walking surfaces are frequently frozen, sloped and slippery. Proper footwear is a must, indoors and out. Work days and hours, as well as the number of hours required will vary, with an emphasis on weekends and holidays.
