Job Summary
The Host welcomes members and guests, manages seating, and provides exceptional customer service to ensure a positive dining experience. This role coordinates guest flow, communicates wait times, and supports the front-of-house team while maintaining a friendly and professional atmosphere.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Welcome members, guests, and visitors in a warm, courteous, and professional manner, creating a positive first impression of the club
- Greet members by name whenever possible and provide personalized service that reflects the Club's hospitality standards
- Manage reservations, seating assignments, and wait lists to maximize dining room efficiency while accommodating member preferences and special requests
- Escort members and guests to their tables, present menus, and communicate daily specials or Club information as appropriate
- Answer incoming telephone calls promptly and professionally, assist with reservations, and respond to member inquiries or direct calls to the appropriate department
- Maintain accurate reservation records using the Club's reservation or point-of-sale system
- Coordinate with dining room managers, servers, bartenders, and culinary staff to ensure timely seating and smooth service throughout each shift
- Monitor dining room activity and table availability to optimize guest flow while maintaining service quality
- Assist in preparing the dining room for service by ensuring the host stand, entrance, menus, and waiting areas are clean, organized, and fully stocked
- Maintain a professional appearance and uphold the Club's dress code and grooming standards
- Address member and guest concerns courteously and promptly, escalating issues to management when appropriate to ensure member satisfaction
- Assist with private events, banquets, tournaments, holiday functions, and other Club-sponsored activities as assigned
- Communicate special occasions, dietary restrictions, and accessibility needs to the appropriate staff members
- Maintain confidentiality regarding member information and conduct all interactions with discretion and professionalism
- Knowledge of all the Club's menus including weekly specials in order to answer member and guest questions and take accurate to go orders
- Follow all Club policies, food safety guidelines, health regulations, and workplace safety procedures
- Support teamwork by assisting servers, bussers, and other front-of-house staff during busy service periods
- Participate in staff meetings and training programs to maintain knowledge of club services, menus, events, and member service expectations
- Perform opening, closing, and side work duties, including organizing menus, cleaning the host station, updating reservation logs, and preparing for the next service period
- Perform other duties as assigned by management to support the successful operation of the Club
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous customer service or hospitality experience preferred; restaurant or private club experience is a plus
- Basic computer skills and experience using reservation or point-of-sale (POS) systems preferred

Training
- This role includes hands-on shadowing and mentorship with the Clubhouse Manager to ensure success and skill development
