Host/Hostess - Sunbird Rooftop Pool (Part-Time)

Job Summary

The AC Hotel San Diego Downtown Gaslamp Quarter is seeking a friendly, energetic, and customer-focused Part-Time Host/Hostess to join our Sunbird Rooftop Pool team. As the first and last point of contact for our guests, the Host/Hostess is responsible for creating an exceptional first impression by providing a warm welcome, managing guest seating, coordinating reservations and waitlists, and ensuring every guest enjoys an elevated rooftop experience.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment, enjoys interacting with people, and is passionate about delivering outstanding guest service.

Essential Functions

The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Welcome all guests with a warm, friendly, and professional demeanor.
• Manage guest seating efficiently while maintaining an organized seating chart.
• Monitor table availability and communicate with servers and management to maximize seating and service flow.
• Accurately estimate wait times and manage the guest waitlist.
• Answer incoming telephone calls, provide information about Sunbird Rooftop Pool, and assist with reservations when applicable.
• Escort guests to their tables and ensure they feel welcome throughout their visit.
• Coordinate seating arrangements for large parties and special requests.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand, entrance, and waiting areas.
• Assist servers and bartenders with guests needs to ensure exceptional service.
• Provide knowledgeable information regarding menu offerings, daily specials, hotel amenities, and rooftop events.
• Resolve guest concerns professionally or notify management when appropriate.
• Follow all food safety, health, and sanitation standards.
• Adhere to AC Hotels by Marriott and Pyramid Global Hospitality service standards and policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support restaurant and hotel operations.

• Previous host/hostess, restaurant, hospitality, or customer service experience preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Positive attitude with a genuine passion for hospitality.
• Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong problem-solving and guest service skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds when necessary.
