Job Title: Engineering Maintenance Supervisor

Department: Maintenance/Engineering

Reports To: Chief Engineer

FLSA Status: Hourly Non-Exempt

Summary: This is a full-time supervisor position working the PM shift (second shift). Responsible for repairing, testing, adjusting, or installing equipment, by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Supervising the PM second shift maintenance/engineers and making sure everyone is productive.*
  • Performs scheduled preventive maintenance tasks, such as checking, cleaning, or repairing equipment, to detect and prevent problems.*
  • Answers and responds to guest room calls to repair or replace all equipment.*
  • Sets up and tests equipment to ensure that it functions properly.*
  • Operates equipment to demonstrate proper use or to analyze malfunctions.*
  • Tests faulty equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test equipment or software, and applying knowledge of the functional operation of electronic units and systems.*
  • Repairs or adjusts equipment, machines, or defective components, replacing worn parts, such as gaskets or seals in watertight electrical equipment.*
  • Calibrates testing instruments and installed or repaired equipment to prescribed specifications.*
  • Advises management regarding customer satisfaction, product performance, or suggestions for product improvements.*
  • Inspects components of equipment for accurate assembly and installation or for defects, such as loose connections or frayed wires.*
  • Maintains equipment logs that record performance problems, repairs, calibrations, or tests.*
  • Performs preventative maintenance in guest rooms and other areas.*
  • Coordinates efforts with other workers involved in installing or maintaining equipment or components.*
  • Consults with customers, supervisors, or engineers to plan layout of equipment or to resolve problems in system operation or maintenance.*
  • Installs repaired equipment in various settings.*
  • Communicates with Chief Engineer to relay all important information between shifts.*
  • Fire and Safety procedures.*
  • Any other responsibilities delegated by the Chief Engineer.*

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business information, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to Front Desk employees and guests.

Math Ability:

Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of e-mail, order processing systems, word processing, spreadsheet, internet, and inventory software.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from four-year college or university; or six to eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
